| On Saturday the 14th at 4AM UTC/GMT we will be upgrading the operating system of our network load balancers to a newer version, one that will allow us to use both CPUs! Nifty, because multiprocessing is nice. Since we have 2 load balancers, the plan is to upgrade 1 at a time, and there really should be very little impact to our website. Hopefully you won't notice a thing and I'll get to go back to the hotel and watch some wonderful late night infomercials. We've got a lot of exciting projects coming up for 2010 and we're hoping that we'll be able to deliver them all to you, that you will find it useful/cool/lovely and then you will use the site even more. Behind-the-scenes work like this will give us the capacity to handle the anticipated traffic, so expect a few more maintenance windows especially in the beginning of next year as we've got some neat ideas to improve performance around here! We had the recent 30-45 minute outage yesterday due to one of our logging databases filling up disk space -- not so great design coupled with my human error in handling the initial problem -- and it looks like we're going to finally have some resources to eliminate stuff like that. I can't wait! As usual, I will be updating status.livejournal.org before and after, just in case you are not able to reach our main website during the work. | |

| I really hate that feeling you get when a fever breaks. It's almost worse when you don't really realize you're feverish until it breaks.
I really should have suspected fever when I was so hazy earlier. I didn't quite register the feeling all the way. I didn't connect the haziness and incoherence and discomfort with fever. Probably because I hadn't been up long. Which is hilarious-- evidently I slept all goddamn day. When I woke up, I thought it was nearing dawn instead of approaching full dark. I hadn't felt well yesterday, and had been feeling better when I woke up-- my aches were mostly gone, etc.-- but I just couldn't get my brain to come all the way online. I totally failed at tallying up votes at my icontest.
I wonder if I caught something from one of my yard sale customers over the weekend? Hmm.
(BTW, this post was difficult to type right. Typos ahoy! I kept having to retype things. LOL my brain is fried.)
Let's sleep more and make the icky go away! YAY! (I'm one of those people for whom medicine may work a bit, but sleep will destroy my illnesses. If I get really sick and just keep getting worse, it's usually because the sick won't let me sleep. As soon as I get sleep, it's like my body reboots. I think it's awesome.)
Here's hoping this is the worst I get! If sleep doesn't kill it, I'll douse it in tea!
[Randomly: Is it odd that today's Writer's Block prompt on what last words you would want to say caused me to immediately think, "The cake is a lie!"? I can't figure out why that would pop in my head for that prompt.]

| Hi, everyone. (: Longtime lurker, first time poster. Okay. Soooo. I've been using brushes for a long time in PSPX2, and it's always worked very well for me, until now. It won't let me apply the brush unless the move it around, and even then it gives me strange results, like this: (brush by meleada) When the brush kind of swirls around the canvas, I suppose you'd call it, as opposed to just applying straight on? I've checked brush variance and rotation and step and I don't know, I'm still not that great with Paint Shop Pro. Can anyone help me fix this problem? And much thanks in advance. (: | |

| Anyone have any recommendations on how I can go about doing something like this? I know that I could just put the text down in the specific areas that I needed, but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a less time-consuming way? :] | |

| I've begun to be really amazed by dA, despite my hate for them for very blurred underline of CC and Fair Use Policy, and how you differentiate from them. Anyhow. Previously I've stated I want a camera, I've even asked in my Facebook. But a chat with Preethi reminds me how sexy iMacs are. Sex. Big sex. I can have technology orgasm if there's one in front of me right now.But now now. Do I really need it? I'll think about it.So about another Sexy Babe of Technology: Canon Powershot S/SX series or EOS.But I haven't really did the research. But it's the quality I really adore.(Kinda like an unforgettable blog entry by Kenny Sia)The thing is - which camera is best for me? I want quality... And I want to cam whore.Oh well. A girl's a girl.I'll update you with my research.Updates: Canon Digital IXUS doesn't look bad. I'm leaning towards Cameras. So, what do you think? I swear, if I got a camera, I'm doing a 365.

| One of those days I spend my lovely evening skipping my beauty sleep and catching up with Yvette. I wonder why she doesn't call herself Michiru anymore. We had lunch together as usual and ate at the mamak stall near by. Times went by. Skies are going grey, and it's gonna rain. I caught some pictures of the beautiful sky. I sometimes wished I have an amazing camera. It would look so awesome and professional, not to mention getting it up in my art resume. ~-*-*-*-*-~ Oh dear, I miss him so much. I miss him so much I can melt in his arm when he hugged me. I can write thousands and thousands of words describing my love for him. That never ending affection, lust and longing. I just wish I don't care that much so I can be a bit light about it. But my heart is heavy. x-posted @ Explore in Neptune- Music:Displaced - Hanne Hukkelberg

| The problem: I know how to make animated icons and never had any problems with that, but I've never done animations from cinema scenes, you know, like this one,so I've found this outstanding tutorial. It says wordy this: "Now that you have your images capped, open up Photoshop and FILE>SCRIPTS>LOAD FILES INTO STACK"I've found this option in my Photoshop CS3 extended, but when I click on this function, Photoshop just failed down!! I've tried that 8 times, and every time it's just failed, without any error message. So,any thoughts what's that and how to solve that problem? | |

| I've had this problem for several weeks now and I'm getting really pissed. My photoshop (elements 5) puts HUGE spaces between everyletter like this instead of . So everytime I'm adding some text I have to move every letter by hand to make it look smart. I've tryed to reinstall it several times. Ideas? | |

| Hi. I had to restore my computer a little over a month ago - I reinstalled Corel Paint Shop Pro XI which I had used all the time before and this never used to happen. I think it mostly happens when I drag a picture onto the program, but I think it has came up at other times while I was using the program. It comes up and freezes up Paint Shop and I can't do anything with it. It says:
Runtime Error! Program: ...|Paint Shop Pro Photo XI\Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo.exe R6025 - pure virtual function call
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

| Hi, I was wondering if I could get an overlay effect like this header: http://www.fanning-love.org/For instance, how did they do the blue stripes as well as the "shadow" of Elle behind the main image? And what about the blurry white fade out at the bottom? I use GIMP 2.6.7. Thank you. :) | |

| Oops, my bandwidth for one of my photobucket accounts is gone! But don't worry I've decided not to blame you guys so much for it anymore since some helpful people have told me that it's more of myself than some people hotlinking that would drain my bandwidth. Sorry for blaming all you guys so much. orz But anyway, I'm using my older account... or maybe I should just make another account next time? The next icon set will have anime screencaps, I swear! Hopefully aph, Trapeze, Umineko, and Maria+Holic? But subject to change of course. guro fanart → 32 nijiura maids → 24 misc. (touhou, trapeze, acme iku, hetalia, umineko) → 28 total → 84 ( just stick to the b.e.a.t. just as easy as a.b.c. do the dance! ) | |
